| The Guatemala Partnership of Needham is supported directly by Outreach and Endowed giving via our host church, the Congregational Church of Needham.
The needs of our partner community, Santa Maria Tzeja has taken on many dimensions over 20 years. The Guatemala Committee within the church therefore organizes specific fundraising activities to elevate our support to the village of Santa Maria Tzeja. Below are examples of our annual fundraisers.
Benefit concert and Silent Auction
Over the years, we have featured a diverse range of live concerts in classical and ethnic music by exceptional performers. The concert occurs side-by-side with a silent auction in which many items we have brought back from Guatemala are available, as well as donations of goods and services locally. This event is typically in March.
Hardworking supporters of the project “take to the streets” to clean, refurbish, paint, rake, weed… whatever badly needs doing, whether its around the chruch property, or anywhere in our community. Each worker is sponsored, donating their day to the betterment of not one, but two communities! We do this every April.
Huge Benefit Yard Sale
Perhaps the biggest yard sale in our state! Items are donated by many people connected with the Partnership. We fix it up, organize and price each item. The yard sale is held in May each year.
Town Bottle & Can collection facility
Committee members, supporters, volunteers take turns in shifts at our town transfer facility, separating, organizing and packing bottles and cans for recycling. Often an early summer event.
